This page showcases the evolution of the community built around the Software Development Environment (SDE), from its inception in 2017 to the present. It serves as a repository of all known applications of the SDE, encouraging its global dissemination and demonstrating the benefits of a robust, scalable, and virtualized environment for collaborative research and development in robotics, as well as the real-world deployment of these solutions.
The open-source reference implementation of the SDE, maintained by Coarobo GK and developed in partnership with Ritsumeikan University for the Avatar-Symbiotic Society project of the JST Moonshot R&D Program, is documented in "Software Development Environment for Collaborative Research Workflow in Robotic System Integration" (DOI: 10.1080/01691864.2022.2068353) and is publicly available at: https://gitlab.com/coarobo/SDE
Aligned with the Avatar-Symbiotic Society's vision of overcoming physical and cognitive limitations by 2050, the SDE supports the development of technologies for Cybernetic Avatars (CAs). This collaboration aims to enable remote operation and coordinated control of multiple CAs, both physical and virtual, to perform complex tasks in service environments, addressing the societal challenges of aging populations and labor shortages.
